“It looks like the guy that designed the Beetle and Porsches did it”.
Just pushing my cart of groceries back to the car and another car parks next to mine. I’m about 20 feet away when 4 people exit the car and thats when one of them says it.
So obviously no. I don’t even know if thats a compliment. But how in the world do you know enough about cars to know the same guy “did” the “beetle and porsches” but not know his name? You already said half of it!!
*yes I looked around to see if there was anything else he could have been referring to. Nope, grocery stores are pretty empty at 11pm.

Yup. Crossfires are rear-engined and have air-cooled flat sixes, you know?

Obviously. There is just a foot between the front wheel and the door for more frunk room.

I can see it.

Im more surprised that someone knows the same guy designed the Beetle and early porsches but not know his name ….. Thats something you learn at the same time.

Especially considering his name is Ferdinand Porsche. Kinda obvious.

1st Guy - “It looks like the guy that designed the Beetle and Porsches did it.”
2nd Guy - “Ferdinand Porsche? Wasn’t he a Nazi?”
1st Guy - “Well, no. Kind of. It’s complicated.”
3rd Guy - “My grandpa fought Nazis!”
4th Guy - “So the guy who drives this is a Nazi, is that what you’re saying?!?”
1st Guy - “No, no! I just...”
4th guy proceeds to spray-paint a swastika on the hood
4th Guy - “FUCKING NAZIS!!!”

Air cooled, but still have to have resonant amplitude piping for the encabulator turbo to achieve thermoelectric peltier curves.

I can see blanking on a name. Even one that is super obvious, because sometimes it seems too obvious.

Haha, 10/10 logic.

The hell, did you just photoshop that?!
Well if theres a photo of it, it has to be real.

Eh, thats a good point. If you’re unsure it might not seem right …. but car companies being named after the founder is a thing.

Hell I have trouble remembering my own name sometimes, it happens

Alas, it is mere photoshop engineering. Good to question reality as presented.

Thats not what I heard.

I have to ask, does the stigma from the bad Top Gear review (which is how most of the world is told what to think of a car) follow/annoy you?

It never comes up IRL but I always know whenever there is a Crossfire on jalopnik Im going to see this image.
Which honestly isn’t that often …. and I just have to remember the people making those comments are probably driving Accords.
